As I was thinking about how to begin this Blog I was also just finishing up reading Numbers and beginning Deuteronomy. Suddenly it dawned on me that much of the first 5 books of the bible are about God leading the Hebrew Children out of bondage and into the promised land.
I thought now, God could've told us about many things we would've enjoyed hearing about. You now the “gravy” stuff. He could have told us about Heaven, life after death, what kind of rewards we will get, How rich He will make us, but no, He decided to tell us a story about a “stiff necked people” as he called them, whom He had chosen to bring out of slavery into the promised land. “A land flowing with milk and honey.”
(Bondage – Food Bondage, Slavery - Food Slavery Hmmmmm)
I've learned in my life to pay attention to the first things I see or hear because generally, the first things lay the foundation for every thing to come.
God wants us to see something in this story. Here's what I believe it is.
God was then, looking for a people to call His own; thus the Jews. God is today, looking for a people to call His own; followers of Jesus, whether they be Jew, Gentile, man or woman, He is looking now for whosoever will. Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
God has a Promised Land for each one of us. He is always trying to lead us into it.
For some reason, usually due to circumstances (fear), attitude, lack of knowledge, or unbelief we fail to obey Gods command to go in and possess the Land. God then has to redirect us.
He has to deal with whatever the issue is and then, because He is faithful, start the process over again.
Each time the process can be more difficult. He wants to take us there, to a land flowing with Milk and Honey; we just have to follow to get there. Don't question, don't doubt, don't complain, just follow.
( I'm assuming you all know the story of the Exodus and God's attempts to lead the Hebrew children into the promised land. If you don't please read Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy).
The first time the Hebrew children had an opportunity to obey God and go into the Promised Land they refused. Fear and unbelief were the culprits
God told Moses He would cause Israel to wander in the Wilderness for 40 years, until all that disobedient generation died off. In other words disobedience, fear and unbelief had to be destroyed.
Just like the Hebrews, we will have to deal with disobedience, fear, and unbelief before God can lead us into our Promised Land, (The Promised Land of Health and Abundance) otherwise, we will never get there.
God was angry with Israel because they didn't follow God with their WHOLE heart.
They were divided between their way of doing things and Gods Way of doing things.
We tend to eat what we are trained by the media and the local “super-marketers” to eat.
Numbers 32:10-13 "So the LORD’s anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying, ‘Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the LORD.’ So the LORD’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was gone.
Kids. the Bible says not to put our trust in men but in God. You can make anything chewable and swallowable but that don't mean it's food. Just because someone said it, don't make it so!
We have to decide once and for all if we will follow God or not! Gods idea of what food is, is 360 degrees different than what the Average American diet dictates food is.
Luke 1:17 “He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
God is preparing us in three areas to be a chosen people, a called out people, a Royal Priesthood. He's doing that in three areas of our lives. Because we are made in His image, He is Triune, that is, He has three distinct parts to His make up, He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we also are triune. We are body, mind, and spirit; those are the three areas of preparation.
God wants us to wholly follow Him in all three areas of our life. This Blog will focus on the Body.
If you don't have a healthy body you certainly cannot have a healthy mind or spirit. The Body must be able to sustain itself with ample energy to do all the rest of the stuff you need your mind and spirit for; study, prayer, and application.
God has given us guidelines for health in His word. Many want to write it off as just religious stuff God has changed His mind about. Does God change His mind? I think not. These guidelines were given to help us get and keep good health.
God's guidelines for food are found in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. These are the building blocks of health. Yeah, it's “Kosher.”
Read these chapters over and tomorrow I will begin to shed some light on their true significance.
Get ready Kids, God will begin to show us how to eat, lose weight and get healthy tomorrow. Get ready to cross over the river Jordan and possess the land!
Too old you say -
Psalms92:12-14
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree. He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bear fruit in old age, They shall be fresh and flourishing”
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bear fruit in old age, They shall be fresh and flourishing”
I'm ready to cross over Jordan!!
